Anyone else have a SO that will not propose or be married?

I had 2 friends break up with their SO's that they were with for 4+ yrs BC they wouldn't commit.

My SO doesn't want to be married either and I do. We both come from divorced parents but I think a lot of times women grow up dreaming about a wedding and men just don't. We've talked about it and really the ultimate commitment part is what I need from him, and he has promised that to me, so now we're good. I think it's more important to him not to be married than it is for me to be married, if that makes sense. I still get sad about it sometimes because it would be fun to have a wedding, but it's Not something I want to leave him over. I'm thinking maybe we will just have a commitment ceremony one day!
