Planned C-section

I'd like some advice . I have chronic back pain and I know it's ideal to have a vaginal birth but I'm so affriad of making my back pain worse with labor and delivery . Is it ok to talk to my doctor about an elective c-section . And if you have had a c-section , how was the recovery?
