Announcement plans rant

FaeLove • 24 First time Mommy

Okay so a few of my closest friends are starting to get on my nerves because I'm explaining how I'm trying to announce my pregnancy to my parents...

I'm 24, pregnant, single, 10 weeks 1 day... the father will not be in the picture. I've been staying at home to go through college.

With that being said, I have this whole thing set up where I'm going to announce it to my parents on Easter... I am getting baskets with plastic eggs I'm going to put the ultrasound in one, a binkie in another... I got them cups that say "the best mom's get promoted to grandma's" I got my mom a bracelet with her initial and birthstone... I'm going to get a box of chocolates and put a letter in it, very heartfelt letter. And I got a shirt that's cute and says eggspecting...

Now I've explained I KNOW they won't be thrilled, or even happy at first... but I know they'll appreciate the thought I put into it and I'm not just running around like a chicken with my head cut off. The comments my friends give me "you really think that'll soften things up?" I told "it's not JUST the bracelet. It's everything I have set up, because I've gotten more stuff than just that. I know they aren't going to be happy at first. But why is it so unnecessary for me to at least try??"

I'm just very irritated and don't see why it's so hard to try to do something cute... I know the reality won't be all rainbows and butterflies but damn let me try!

Am I wrong for trying? Am I really stupid for going through with this announcement plan??
