At home hair dye...

I know it's safe to dye your hair after the first trimester...I'm 32.3 and I look like a skunk. I tried to wait until after birth but with my shower coming up I'm feeling a little shitty about all the grey. My hair is black- plain old black and I usually dye it myself with some Loreal Feria or alike. Would I be safer with salon formula... I don't see spending the  money a salon would charge for one flat color but I want to do what's safest for baby. I looked online and never have a found an article differentiating the two but maybe a hairdresser has some better insight as far as chemicals I could be avoiding. Any thoughts?
