My sister (posting anonymously for this reason) has two little boys aged 3 and 7. My sister and her husband live in a basement apartment underneath my house. On weekends or her days off (her husband is a stay-at-home dad) my sister and her hubby sleep in until 11 or 12 o'clock in the afternoon, they like to stay up late so they sleep in late. Her children, however, wake up at around 5 or 6am. The thing that irks me, is that neither my sister or my husband wake up with the kids. They basically let the kids fend for themselves, the older one makes the little one cereal for breakfast and the kids just sit around watching tv until my sister and her husband decide to wake up. If the kids try to wake them up, they will tell them to go back out and watch tv. Is this wrong??? I feel like this is neglect but I don't have children of my own so I'm not sure if this is something a lot of parents do.
