Inducing question..

Rachel
How long after your due date do you usually get induced? I'm due Friday but doubt Jr. is gonna b here by then and my first child was due on November 27 but they induced me on the 22nd because my dr said she was already at a good size weight and he was already goin to be at the hospital that day..

Assuming you don't have pre-eclampsia or some issue with the placenta or any health problem that they are watching - there's no real medical reason to consider inducing until you get beyond 42 weeks.Especially if your doctors main consideration is his/her own scheduling convenience- sheesh!!  What kind of reason is that ?! I can't believe your doctor even said that out loud.  LolThe best and healthiest time for your (full-term) baby to come is whenever your water breaks.  :)Here's an article on the new categorization of delivery dates - https://health.clevelandclinic.org/2013/10/full-term-pregnancy-newly-defined/Congrats !!!

The ACOG recommendation is that women may be induced electively at 41 weeks and should be induced at 42.

I was scheduled to be induced at 41 weeks with my first but i had her at 40+6 so there was no need. Sometimes these doctors get ahead of themselves if you ask me.

I asked about this at my last appointment and my doctor said they don't let patients go passed 41 weeks.
