Change in mucus plug

40w 2d been loosing my mucus plus since my due date 2 days ago, it started of to be very very thick, gooey and like a yellowish colour. And coming out in large chunks. Now today it's turned into a more softer stringy type of goo which is more like a white in colour. Why the change in it? Is this it coming to an end? I'm so lost and confused, 2nd time mom but didn't have this with my son. I was induced with him after 4 days over.
