Any Muslims here that can explain what Sharia Law means to you?

Edit: How do you all feel about states banning it in their court systems?

Also please bear in mind that the countries own law trumps sharia law, according to Islam. We are taught that if (for example) stoning someone to death is illegal in your country of residence, then you will be sinned if carried out, no matter what reason.

Shariah law is the rules and guidelines of life given to mankind from the Creator of all that exists

Shariah law is basically Islamic law. It's a combination of all laws that are based on the Quran, Hadith and scholarly ruling. Governments can run based off of Shariah law, shariah law is something that just exists, it's not like the US constitution which exists only in the US and is based off of a document. Shariah law is I guess based off of a document but it's just different. Every Muslim follows the Shariah in any country, everywhere so as long as it does not violate the law of the land in which they live in.. So ya in the Quran it says a man can have 4 wives, but he wouldn't in the US because polygamy is illegal.

I'm a little curious too. I really don't know much about it at all. Just what the media shows (so who knows if I even have good info). The parts of it I've seen have to do with marriages to young children, overly harsh punishments for women. Maybe a few other things closely related. I know that's not all of it. I don't belive for one second that Muslims are bad, evil or violent people. So I can't imagine Sharia Law being all bad. 
I don't want to Google something like this, because you never know what's right or what's wrong. Does anyone have a legitimate site to do to to get this info?
