Second trimester u/s, what to expect?

Question

On Wednesday I have my second trimester ultrasound, I'll be 21 weeks, which I'm assuming is the anatomy ultrasound. What can I expect will go on? 
Also my next Dr appointment is the following Monday, I'll be 22 weeks...will I know the results by then? I'm just curious what to expect at the ultrasound and if there are any questions I can ask the technician and what to expect at my Dr appointment after, if I should ask anything specific.. TIA 😘

The ultrasound is a long one, and I would imagine that when you see your doctor she'll tell you if everything looks good or not. I had mine at 17 weeks but didn't see my doctor again until 21 and they upload all their information to our personal portal if everything looks good and if there's an issue then she calls.

But they measure everything at the ultrasound. Organs, your uterus, placenta, check blood flow to baby, and it can be kinda long, and uncomfortable from it being so long and them having to move around on your belly.

They have to take 75-100 photos (they only print off a few for you though) to make sure everything's functioning. Mine lasted 2 hours because she was breech and spine up so we had to get her to move around to see most stuff.

The tech may or may not speak to you or answer your questions.  We were lucky and our tech gave us a few answers.  I found a great link on Pinterest about what kind of questions to ask so I got a few answers.  Total time for me was about half an hour.  Doc then added results to my health record through their patient portal like 2 days later.  He answered the other questions I had but I emailed him with a few more to be safe.  I'll give you a short hand of the questions I asked.

1. Does the umbilical cord have 3 vessels? 
2. Are all the organs visible and in the right position?
3. Does the heart have 4 chambers? 
4. Is heart rate within normal limits? 
5. Is the cord attached properly to baby and placenta? 
5. What is the placement of the placenta?
6. Is the size of the brain and fluid filled areas within normal limits? 
7. Is the amniotic fluid within normal limits? 
8. Is the spine in alignment? 
9. Does the face have a cleft lip? 
10. Are their boy or girl parts (if you want to know)?

The tech answered a few and doc put most of the rest in his report in my patient portal but anything not answered I followed up with an email and am still waiting to hear back.  I hope this helps.
