2nd day breastfeeding any advice for me?

It's my second day breastfeeding my son and I feel like giving up. My nipples hurt sooo bad regardless of using the nipple cream. I make sure he is latched good and positioned right. I make sure he opens his mouth wide enough to get all around my nipple and areola. I'm just in more pain with every feeding any moms know what I can do to make this easier? I want a good healthy bonding experience with breastfeeding :(
