Blood testing for Gender

I'm seeing many of you have found out your baby's gender through blood testing. I have no clue how this works. I tried looking it up, but couldn't find anything. How is this procedure done? And does it costs out of pocket or through your insurance? 12Weeks today 😊❤🍊
