1 year check up is it true that

They do blood work on your baby ? I went to WIC today and the lady told me they were going to do blood work on my daughter at her 1 year appointment to check if she's anemic, from what I see I've only known of the baby getting 3 shots at their 1 year check up I've never heard or seen anyone say they did blood work on their baby. If its true is there any way I can reject them doing it ? When I went to get blood work done 2 weeks ago I heard how 1 baby and 1 kid scream and cry while getting their blood work done and let me just say, they were not my kids but I cried while hearing them :/ I know its for the best but still if it can be avoided and is not really necessary I'd rather not
