My boyfriend and I have been together for a long time... around 9-10 months. He told me he has HPV so I looked it up and all that. It's not too bad and doesn't really do anything. He said he'll wait till I make up my mind if I want to have sex with him. Hes being really understanding and I really love him. I feel like we're going to actually get married someday♡ But should I still risk the chance or get what he has?? What would you do?

Hpv isnt that bad but u can get the vaccines its 3 of them tell ur ob/gyn u want the shot and u will be fine

The shot/vaccine does nothing. I got it and still got hpv. It typically goes away on its own and most people get it at some point in their life

My mom has it and got cervical cancer. They caught it early enough that they didn't have to do major surgery, but just be careful!

My husband had it & didn't know and I never had any syptoms for years so I didn't know either...It sucks MAJORLY now that I have break outs. I suggest using protection 100% of the time unless you want to have children, and maybe then you can look into ivf instead of knowingly infecting yourself. 
He sounds like a keeper. Many men wouldn't even tell you they have it, especially HPV because they are typically only the carrier and would have no signs of the disease outwardly. 
Also, do some research on the strain he has. The one I have causes warts, but is non cancerous. There is a strain that can be cancerous & almost killed my mother. =( If he has that strain, I definitely would not have unprotected sex with him.

HPV is common. Unless you're a virgin having sex with a virgin, you're bound to get it. I am a nurse at a GYN and we deal with this all the time. Get vaccinated! No it won't help with all strands with HPV, but the newest shot helps with 9 of the high risk strands. As long as you get your yearly paps and are followed carefully (if you have HPV), it will always be caught before causing cervical cancer.

What you do need to confirm with your SO is if he has low risk or high risk HPV. Low risk is the kind that causes condyloma (warts). High risk men can't actually be tested for, but this is the kind that causes cervical cancer in women. He would know this if a previous girlfriend had an abnormal pap. In very few cases, mean can get penile cancer from this. It's even more uncommon, but there are cases of anal and throat cancer because of HPV.
