What does your first appointment in the UK involve?

I haven't got my first 'booking in' midwife appointment until 22nd April at this point I will be 10 weeks. (ish) Will they leave it another 2 before booking me in for a scan? Nervous and apprehensive as haven't been given any advice or information. Anybody know any more than I do or what it fully entails? They say it can take up to 2 hours! Thanks

Exactly what the others said! I had my booking in appointment at 5 weeks because I'm a high risk pregnancy this time then I got my 12 week scan letter in the post yesterday, I'm 7+1 now. X

​I had my first appointment last week at 7 weeks. The midwife was surprised I'd been booked in that early as they don't book people in until a lot later!

​They will collect a urine sample, take some bloods, check weight, ask your medical history and some information about you and your husband/partner.  They will give you some booklets about pregnancy and give you a guide on how many appointments you will have and what sort of things to expect.

​Mine took about 30-40 mins in total. They say it usually takes about an hour.

I seem to remember lots of questions with DD1, they ask all about LMP and dates etc. also about medical history of you and DH, any family history of cancer or birth defects. They also now ask if you have any genital piercings or body modifications - my friend is a midwife, she told me this the other day. ( I don't have any btw! Lol) they check blood pressure, ask if you have been taking prenatal vitamins/folic acid etc. I am looking forward to it, my youngest turns 6 on Thursday so it feels like a looong time since I had a midwife looking after me :)

Yeah not to long but bunch of questions to answer and some booklets ur given xx

They take ur weight height blood pressure and bloods that's about it tbh then u will get ur ultra sound few days later x
