Okay, so initially I was going to keep my mouth shut, but to be honest, it’s left such a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t want to see anyone else treated the way they treat people. Photography Beginners is supposed to be a group who helps people like me, just starting out, and wanting to get better.. the woman, blurred out with a green bow, made a post stating that she wanted help with proper wedding etiquette seeing as a good friend of hers asked her to shoot her wedding. The woman made note that she is new, and the friend knows this. Instead of giving her suggestions or telling her how to ‘focus’ her photos, they continuously tell her how she isn’t ready and how she’s going to ruin her friends wedding day.... it hurt her feelings that they continuously bashed her, so she deleted the post. The main admin (?) reposted screenshots of the post, essentially calling her out, again. When confronted the woman told them, you made me cry.... to which they responded with more rude comments. I sent her a message, and apologized for the behavior of this group, and I gave a few suggestions and pointed her in the direction of places where she can learn more about her camera and the best settings for different lighting... we started talking further and she explained to me that she wanted to become better at photography so she can eventually begin to charge a little money so she can put it towards a van that is wheelchair accessible for her son. She even disclosed to me that her friend knows she’s completely new at this, but that she wanted her to shoot her wedding so she could begin to build a profile for her photography.... literally broke my heart for this woman. I went back to the page and made a simple comment ‘I don’t believe everyone handled this situation well, instead of telling her she will ruin her friends day, why couldn’t we have offered suggestions to improve her photos?’ Shortly after that I received a notification that the group had disabled my commenting abilities for a few days..... this is crap. I’d like to say I don’t recommend anyone joining this group, you go there for help and instead you get insulted with no solution offered....
