I’m so sorry about your loss; being pregnant after a loss is emotionally tough but such a blessing - congrats on that rainbow baby

Vaginal Progestrone For Short Cervix

I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and have been taking vaginal progesterone since 23 weeks, 6 days pregnant due to me having no measure-able cervix at all. Im just wondering if any of you have been on it for a short cervix as well and when did you stop the use of vaginal progesterone and when did you go into labor ? Would love to hear stories.

Cerclage removal

Hello everyone I just wanted to introduce myself My name is Jazmine I’m 20 years old I’m currently pregnant with my third. My first baby (girl) was born at 22w due to a complete abruption and then I had my second (girl) at 23w due to a incompetent cervix . My 2nd daughter spent a total of 135 days in the NICU and will be turning two next month on the 5th. I’m currently due with my third (first boy) oct 22nd but I will be getting my stitches removed NEXT WEEK at 36 weeks! I’m super nervous and excited ! I was very hesitant at first about getting the stitches in the first place just because of bad experiences with anesthesia (allergic to GA) anyway at 18 weeks I decided to get it Bc I was losing pieces of my mucas plug . I’m glad I got it because now I am 34w 4d . Let me tell you now the placement wasn’t bad AT ALL! I Legit over reacted for NOTHING. If your afraid don’t be it really isn’t that bad. I’m gonna comment my registry down below incase anyone wants to buy baby anything. Feel free to comment yours as well.

Does emergency cerclage get successful?

Cerclage & rest

Hi, I had my ultrasound indicated cerclage on Friday 9/10, my cervix was measuring 2.5 cm with an internal beaking. I’m currently 19w. Doctor thought it is better to do it now than wait and watch as I have a history of preterm loss at 20 weeks. Any advice for me at this point? I’m still recovering from the surgery, I have a dull backache and lower abdomen discomfort. I’m currently taking bathroom breaks and stand every 2-3 hrs. I know bed rest is not recommended and I’m aware of pelvic rest. There’s still a long way to go and I want to do everything possible to save my little bean. If you are reading please keep my rainbow 🌈 in your prayers. I just wish no mom should go through this. 🙏🏻

Praying for you and hoping you and baby are keeping strong! I know bedrest isn’t recommended BUT that being said I do believe putting your feet up often is helpful! Some bedrest can help- it helped me bake my little girl 2 additional weeks to make it to our C-section date just this last pregnancy. With both my cerclages I was told to not bend, lift or make any major pulling or pushing action. Seems silly but it was worth it to have 2 beautiful healthy kids after losing twins to IC! You can do this momma!

External OS dilated?

What does it mean when the external OS is dilated but not the internal OS? I’ve tried google, I’ve tried searches, I’ve gotten no solid results. Preventative stitch placed, last cervical length was good but external OS is dilating?

It means your cervix is dilated but there is no internal dilation or funneling as they often call it.

I’m scared for my baby

I got told at 16 weeks that my cervix is 2.9.. it was 3.19 at 12 weeks and now I’m scared I won’t make it to see my baby girl on December. Has a similar thing happened to you and your baby made it safe?

Have they considered an emergency cerclage or a pessary? Are you on bedrest? Bedrest until at least 24 weeks could significantly help when baby is considered viable.

3rd baby, 2nd elective cerclage

Hi all! Im a 26 year old mommy and this is my third baby. All my kids are 2 years apart, I was never diagnosed with IC because they have no clue to why my first born was born at 24+6 and she’s healthy now we were in the NICU for 4 months but she’s a smarty 4 year old now! So since they couldn’t figure out why I went into labor so early I decided to do a cerclage with my second born and my boy came out via schedule c section at 36+1 because I opted for the elective cerclage at 13 weeks and makena shots at 16 weeks until 36weeks. I’m pregnant again 1 year later with baby #3 and had my elective cerclage at 13+3 and starting my shots again at 16 weeks this coming Monday! My dr said these methods are completely up to me and so far it worked for my second child I’m praying it works for this baby. I’m wishing you all happy and healthy pregnancies!!

Did your 36 weeker have to go to the nicu?

Short Cervix

I’ve been in the hospital for 3 weeks. I’m 25 weeks, my water broke 24 weeks. Theres a chance for premature labor. Anyone dealt with a short cervix? Need words of encouragement or share of your experiences.

At this point in your pregnancy the length of your cervix is clinically irrelevant. No need to worry about it yet. Just talk to your doctor at your next scan.

Vaginal progesterone

If you stopped taking vaginal progesterone at 36 weeks for risk of a short cervix, when did y'all deliver??

Grateful for cerclage

Just a testimony to what a preventative cerclage CAN do! I was experiencing consistent contractions 5-10 minutes apart; came to hospital and my cerclage is holding! I’m 36 weeks with a C-section in 2 weeks 🙏🏼 but either way this cerclage has done it’s job of keeping baby girl in! This will be our second success story! Keep the faith that these things can work out! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😘😘😘

I hide mine put in about a week ago. And im increased vaginal discharge (white) no smell, no other symptoms. Just thin & white. Wondering if this was normal? Or has anyone had this also? Tia:)

Yes, it’s normal because the stitch is a bit irritating to your tissues.

Cerclage mommy’s

I am a first time cerclage mom, meaning I was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix with my last pregnancy after having my son at 23 weeks. I am now 17 weeks pregnant this time and had my cervical cerclage placed 2 weeks ago at 15 weeks... my question is what and how did other moms out there manage doing daily tasks (work, household chores, taking care of other kids, running errands, etc). We’re you placed on bed rest or were you able to do everything without exemptions. Did this cause early labor? Also, we’re you able to have sex, or did you avoid it for rest of pregnancy? I am having a hard time finding groups to specifically answer my questions, so I decided to go forward and make a post and simply ask for other moms experiences... tia P.S. I understand every body and situation is different, I just want to get some insight on other mommy’s experiences since I worry a lot about what I can and can’t do or shouldn’t do that I’m stressing myself out. Plus my doctor says everything is ok at this point, but I still don’t want to push myself too much.

So great that you have the cerclage! This is my second pregnancy with a cerclage and although it’s different depending on each doctor in general both times I’ve been told no sex, not to carry heavy things and to try to rest as much as possible. I feel like I was most antsy from weeks 16-24 before viability. This pregnancy has been different because I have a 2.5 year old so rest looks very different but I would say don’t push it and make sure you get lots of time with your feet up. We lost twins at 20 weeks and then a year later had our baby boy at 40 weeks after a successful cerclage experience. Currently 35 weeks with a baby girl and it’s been a blessing knowing we have the cerclage 😘🙏🏼. Ask away and reach out as much as you need!

Cerclage

Hey Mama’s I’m scheduled for my cerclage in the morning, I’m 18 weeks today. I’m super nervous. But after reading your experiences.......you ladies have REALLY put my mind to REST. I know I can do this. Thank you

Cerclage vs progesterone?

Hello ladies, I have a history of incompetent cervix. I had a birth at 25 weeks, followed by a emergent cerclage at 14 weeks, then a preventative cerclage at 12 weeks. I am almost 10 weeks currently, and have been taking vaginal progesterone supplements just to provide extra support for this pregnancy (I'm 46, and not getting any younger!).I was just reading some studies that show that vaginal progesterone is as effective if preventing preterm birth due to shortened cervix. I know my cerclages have worked, but I'd love to not have another surgery, if I can help it. Has anyone had any experience with the vaginal progesterone that they can share?

I had to have a preventative cerclage with my previous pregnancy because my cervical length shortened really fast. I had it done at 18 weeks. I am now 20 weeks pregnant. Had a preventative cerclage placed at 15 weeks even though my length was fine. I’ve been in progesterone since I was about 10 weeks. Even with the cerclage in I’m still on progesterone. I also have a history of preterm births. My oldest was born at 36 weeks (24 yrs ago) my little one was delivered emergency c section at 34 weeks due to preeclampsia. My doctor told me if you’ve needed a cerclage in the past that you most definitely will need it again. They gave me the option to do it early as a preventative or to wait until my cervix started shortening again then have it done. I don’t think just progesterone alone will do the job unfortunately. Especially if you’ve delivered early due to an incompetent cervix. Neither of my early deliveries were from issues with my cervix. However if I didn’t have the cerclage placed I would have delivered much earlier and potentially have lost my baby. I’d suggest having the surgery done. It sucks but it works.

IC in second pregnancy?

I have posted about this before but really looking for some insight. I was diagnosed with IC at 27 weeks in my first pregnancy and put on bed rest as my cervix was immeasurable and I was dilated to 1cm. I continued to dilate slowly but held out until I had my son at 35 weeks. They are monitoring me closely in this pregnancy and so far everything is looking okay! My last measurement was a week ago at 3.1cm and I was 25 weeks at that point. Any mammas deal with short cervix in their first but not their second pregnancy?? Dying to hear some real experiences!

Sorry, I have not since I had a cerclage placed in subsequent pregnancies. However, just wanted to respond to you so you know that you're heard! Good luck mama!

Cervix length

20 week. Just left my anatomy scan and I'm a worrier. My cervix length was measuring 2.25-2.5 depending on the angle. The doctor didn't seem worried at all and told me not to worry but it's my first pregency. I'm going back in 4 weeks for get it checked. Any insight?

Request a cerclage and progesterone ASAP! Speaking from experience I lost a baby at 22 weeks

Short Cervix 7 weeks

At my 7 week ultrasound they found that my cervix was 26mm. My previous pregnancy no one ever mentioned my cervix and I went full term. Wondering if anyone has had this occur in subsequent pregnancies but not your first pregnancy. I am going back for a recheck at 14 weeks.

Thank you! I am going to ask about that at my next appointment.

Weakened cervix

I’m currently 10w4d and getting nervous after reading some articles on here. Before my first child in 2016 I had a leep procedure after multiple abnormal paps, there was little concern though and the pregnancy was completely normal. But since then I’ve also had a cone biopsy so that’s 2 procedures and a child so I know my cervix isn’t in the best shape. At my appointment next week they will start to check my cervix length. I guess I’m just looking for some good vibes since it doesn’t seem like there’s much I can do on my end.
