My 8 month old daughter had gastroschesis. They found it at 20 weeks. When she was born she went straight into surgery. Which was so scary and terrifying for my fiancé and I. The doctors did a really good job at explaining what they were gonna do and how it all worked. How it was gonna be. After her 6 hour surgery she was in the nicu and didn’t eat for 2-3 weeks. When the fluid in her bowels cleared up they started feeling her .5 ml, then .10 and up from there until she ate 2-3 oz. She was born on 3/15/19 and was discharged on 4/15/19. She also had 2 valves in her heart connected. And kidney retention that they didn’t know about until she was born. She’s still really sensitive to things she eats and she gets stomach pains sometimes. The doctors say she’s doing good. My daughter had a small case of gastroschesis but every baby is different. I knew what to expect but it was still hard going home without your baby. If it wasn’t for my family supporting us and being there for my fiancé, me and the baby I don’t think I would of gotten through it. It really was hard. I would suggest she has as much support as possible it’s really hard mentally and physically being postpartum and having hormones all over the place.
