My boyfriend who was a virgin and I had sex for the first time. He was fine getting hard before but about half way through he got soft and we just couldn't get it back up. I'm pretty sure it's not me because I can give him an erection usually otherwise. We're both 18 so I don't think it's erectile dysfunction because that's usually in older men. What could it be?

This happens to my husband once every few months. Sometimes he comes a tiny bit, not even enough for a real orgasm, but then his penis refuses to do anything else. Other times, if he gets interrupted during a particularly vigorous time by something distracting, he will go soft and can't get his penis back up. He's always afraid it offends me. It happens, though. Also, if your BF was a virgin, nerves can definitely play into that.

Actually it can happen in younger men, but I'd bet more on the fact that he was a virgin had something to do with it
