Discharge before my period starts

So I get a discharge a couple of days before my period starts..it doesn't smell bad it's whiteish and isn't clumpy just sticky..I don't always get it every month it's off and on again kinda situation. And no I'm not sexually active I'm in a long distance relationship..can anybody tell me if this is normal or the f it happens to you?
