Laser tattoo removal

I'm tatted but I have one on the back of my neck that I got when I was 18 and it has no meaning. I don't like it. Its already a cover up. I never wear my hair up because of it. I want to get it removed. Has anyone had laser tattoo removal? Is it really as terrible as some people say it is??
