Which finger to wear promise ring? 💍

I've had a promise ring since Christmas from my boyfriend of 10 months and I wear it on my ring finger. Is this normal? I've never gotten any comments about asking if I were married (I'm only 19) yet my very conservative and traditional mother insists that its wrong to wear it on the left hand. Any thoughts/experiences?

I wore my promise ring on my ring finer on my right hand. In my personal opinion, I never wanted to wear a ring on my ring finger on my left hand til it was an engagement/wedding rings.
