He doesn't want kids

Me and my so have been together since we was 14 ( High school sweethearts lol), and we're still madly in love like the day we first met, still equally as crazy for each other. And as we've settled down now I ask him a lot what do you think about having a kid ? But he always says " kids are annoying " or " I wouldn't be a good dad anyway" why is he being like this ?  he's super sweet and such a lovely human and we're both still head over heels for each other after all these years and it's getting to that point where I want to start a little family but he doesn't, i don't understand why not and its making me feel awful and useless in a way and the amount of times I've spoke to him about it is unreal but he just doesn't seem to like the idea
