What have your friends and family etc reactions been to you saying you would like to breastfeed?

I've said I'd like to breastfeed if I can. Of course I have no idea what will happen when she comes out I may or may not be able to or want too for that matter! But I'd at least like to try before everyone says I won't! Just curious to see if anyone else was experiencing this?

When my daughter was born and i was struggling with breastfeeding i was complaining to my mother and considering moving to formula. My mother did everything to convince me not to give up. Eventually i breastfed until my daughter was 1 year and 4 months old.

I was unable to bf my son, and my daughter didn't learn to latch until she was almost 3 months old, at which point I was almost dry and did not know that if I kept trying my supply could come back. With this baby, I'm determined to have only breastfeeding for the first year. And I've gotten "but baby will need more by six months", "but what if baby won't latch", "but what about if wic or whatever says baby needs solids". I don't care. My baby is going to be as natural as possible being as the first tHing in her life will be the trauma of c section. I don't care what anyone else thinks. Breast milk only for the first year, and fresh foods processed at home in a blender or processor, no snacks, no extras, no bottles with formula and cereal. None of that. And I don't care what anyone else thinks. This is my baby, and her father supports me all the way. And he will lose his mind if someone gives the baby something I don't want her to have. Like when family members experiment with chocolate or cookies, not going to happen. Period.

It's normal to bf in my family, choosing to formula feed (unless u cant produce milk) is looked at as odd and selfish

Bf my daughter until 18 months. I went in to it not knowing what to expect but the nurses and lactation consultants at the hospital were great. Ask them for help if you need help. Dh didn't care one way or another and id say the same of my family. Good luck momma!!

Breastfed both of my kids so far. Not without issues. My first had formula for like 2 days, and my second has only had my BM until be was close to 2, nobody could shame me even if they wanted to

I get a lot of people telling me about how hard it is and how once I start I'll just want to give her formula. My mom 100% exclusively breastfed all three of her children and kicked butt at it. She's my big source of encouragement but everyone else just aggravates me. I've never claimed anything about motherhood to be easy and even if you know how difficult it is, wouldn't that give you all the more reason to encourage me to stick with it and tell me that I can do it? It's like putting me down before I've even tried. Ugh. Anyway, thank you for the platform to vent, very much appreciated☺️

Most ppl have been postive saying to not get set on either one bc u never know what will happen or what u will like  and many are supportive of not breast feedin due to their own negative experiences which I found shocking

"You cant drink while you breatfeed", is what my dads alcoholic wife said to me yesterday. Im pumping exclusively, and you in no way have to abstain from alcohol for the. Entire time your breastfeeding, i mean of course im not gonna sip a whiskey and coke while im pumping, but if i want to go out for drinks with my hunsband on a friday night sometime i can.

I have failed to be able to BF with my two previous kidlets. Hoping it works out this time, I'd like to exclusively pump. Everyone has been supportive but I've heard of people being really judgemental no matter what some women try or end up doing. Strange

No one in my family was supportive of me bfing my last child. It was a difficult time for me without any support, but I still managed to nurse her for 8 months. I plan on nursing this new baby too, and have asked my husband to try to be at least a little supportive of my decision because it's definitely not an easy thing to do. Hopefully you have some support to help you through! Start with small goals - 1 week, then 1 month, etc. Good luck!
