How much is too much?

My son(7) has recently been touching his penis and I remind him to only do that privately but he refuses to listen. I try to not punish him for this but it is getting to the point where is teachers have informed me of his behavior. Any advice on how I shall react to this would help greatly.

Have you asked him why he is touching it? Maybe it's because it hurts and he needs to see a doctor. Uti? Try changing from boxers to briefs or opposite? Could the laundry detergent be irritating his skin?

I think definitely take him to a medical professional. Often kids act out sexually when they have been sexually abused. You might even want to talk to your son about these issues but ask him in a way where it doesn't plant it in his head that he's been abused because this is often how false allegations happen. Maybe just casually ask your son why he is touching himself like that? Ask him if anyone else has touched his penis? Hope you get to the cause of this issue soon xx

It may be a good idea to make a Dr appt too and get him checked out.  I know my 9yr old open up to his doc more then he did me about sexual issues like this.
