Maternity photographer cost??

Question

I'm struggling with some prices I've been quoted for maternity photos. I understand editing is time consuming and it's ok to be proud of your work, but $350 for 12 photos and an hour of your time seems expensive... apparently I'm in the wrong field.

Has anyone taken maternity photos or had quotes that were more reasonable? I'm just wanting to establish a baseline.

If you call around to some photographers they can make a simple packages or even give you a discount sometimes for first time parents or ask you to be a tester for new poses. I had a lady that came into my work at the time that was a photographer and was looking for customers I told her how much I could spend which was $65 and got a cd full of pictures! They turned out amazing in my opinion here are a few sorry they were in a picture frame.🙃🙂 good luck!!

My friend charges 435$ for the newborn shoot.  These shoots end up being many hours of work!  Travel and photo time, then editing time, preparing props etc.  it sounds expensive but there's more to it than the time you see in your home!

Try checking with the photography department at local colleges. There may be some students willing to do it for free to build up their portfolios.

My FIL does photography as a hobby and will be taking our maternity pics luckily for free. He did our engagement pics too and they look professional. My cousin is a professional family/newborn photographer but is so expensive even a family discount doesn't make it worth having her do them.

Uhhhhhhhh I paid 50 for two hours, as many location and outfit changes as we wanted, all images edited and put on a disk for no additional cost and they turned out wonderful...I'd check around more. Theyre charging you out the ass

Try asking the cost for a mini shoot.  I paid $60 for a Easter mini shoot for my daughter.  We received 12 edited pictures on a USB, website access where we can download straight to our computer or order to print.

We are doing a 6 sitting package.  Maternity,  newborn,  3month, 6month, 9 month & 1 year. It includes 8 pictures per set and a book at then end.  All together it's $1300. So like 220 ish per sitting.

But if it's done on its own it's almost $300 for each individual sitting and $450 for the newborn one.

My maternity pictures are scheduled for May 31st! It's going to be $190 BUT $160 of that will be applied to my order!

SO and I live in a small town and there are two great photographers who live here and do most of the families that live here photos for all events . One charges $40 for an hour shoot and the other is $60. Not too bad for either . And they both do a wonderful job
