I think people self diagnose themself too much. Its ridiculous how mental illness is now trendy because im sure people that do have it would give their life to trade just for one day to be happy etc.. Makes me angry.

Umm no. The only people who romanticize mental illness are those who have never dealt with one.

It annoys me that people now days think it's "cool" to have a mental illness, and in the end the person who is going to "save" you isn't someone who is going to be wearing shining armour, it's going to be you. People come and go and in the end you have to want to get better.

I agree. I am so freaking over people using "bipolar" as a way to describe every fucktard in a bad mood, or ADHD to describe their ill-behaved child that they won't discipline, or OCD to explain the one time they finally got off their ass and cleaned something. Or saying they have PTSD from a frickin spider. Mental illness isn't a status update, it's a way of life for some and not a fun one.

People dont know unless they fo through it themselves. Many people believe by simply getting someone to not seem depressed or to not self-harm the problem is solved when in fact it's almost not even the root of the problem that's been touched.  
A few years back my family realized another member was self-harming. They talked to her and ran out and got self help books. I had a conversation with my sister about it, seeing as I was openly taking pills for anxiety and a self-harmer (only hubby knew at the time)  I wanted to know if it was an actual attempt to help or if it was a way just to get her to stop self harming. During this conversation I asked my sister "what would you do if she called you and said I can't take it any more I'm at a bridge and am going to jump and end it." Her response was "I'd ask her where she was, go over there, and slap the shit out of her." This struck a nerve with me and I got on her case. She said she "doesn't understand why people need meds or special drs for these things.Go cry and get it over with or go yell in a field and be done." In an odd twist of events I got a random text one night a while after this conversation that simply said "I''m so sorry, I didn't understand but now I do."

Ummm what??? I actually suffered with anorexia in my early 20s late teens and  have ptsd depression etc why the hell would anyone want that??? Ide do anything not to have had these things!!!

That's horrible that people wish for mental illness ide give anything not to have bpd and actually be able to have normal relationships without being so easily hurt with such a bad temper or not to have ptsd would be nice if can't believe this why on earth would anyone want to suffer???
