yeast infection

I had a boy who is 2 years younger than me, we were "friends with benefits" and one day he went down on me, he bit my clit thinking it would feel good but it didn't. I literally twitched. and about a few days later, I ended up getting really itchy down there, not in side of my lips lol, like on my clit and around it I guess.. I was scared I had something (STD) I got checked out and used these three huge pills I had to stick into my vagina & the itching went away. the doctor said it was just a yeast infection & I haven't gotten checked out, but I know now it was a yeast infection, is it possible to get that from your partner? I'm a 18 & confused,
