How to be a mom?

I'm worried that since my mother was a terrible mom who made terrible decisions I won't know how to be a mom because I never had that. I'm scared to death. I never want my kids to feel how me and my sisters felt.

My mom was also a terrible mom but I honestly just use her as an example of what not to be! What would Lisa do and then I do the opposite haha! Honestly though it took a year of counseling to start to get over the damage my mom did and to solidify myself as an individual and not my mother. You are not your mother 😃

My grandpa had a terrible dad. He would come back and get my great grandma pregnant and then leave again. After he left for good he had a whole other family. And my grandpa is the most amazing person I know. And I asked him one time how he knew how to be such a good dad and grandfather. And he said that he knew exactly what he DIDNT want to be and that's where he started. I think the fact that you don't want to be a bad mom is the right line of thought. Just know what you don't want to be. I don't know you, but I get the feeling you'll be a good mom. Especially because you know what it's like to not have one.

Raise your child the way you wish your mother raised you. As long as you are always looking out for your children's best interest, you will do fine :)

My mom was a bad mom. She left all 4 of us when we was 14, 11, 7, 4 years old. And I didn't see her again until I was 25. Now everyone says I'm one of the best moms they know. Everyone drops their kids off at my house. I have even had a few instances where my friends and family referred me to other mothers to take custody or adopt their children. All you need to remember is to do the opposite of what your mom would of done.

If you think this way, then you know you'll be a great mom. You'll provide and love your children the way your mother couldnt. Just lean on people you know that have been good parents and they'll teach you a few things.

You being worried about being a good mom means that you probably will be. Love your kids & do what you feel is right. And if you ever have questions about how to handle a situation, talk to your husband/SO or parents you really admire. Don't post it in a mom's group or a forum like this unless you want the crazies to come out & attack all your choices 😘😂
