Cervical Exam

So I am due this weekend and my Doctor attempted to check my cervix this morning but was unable to because I was very tense. I've tried 3 times now to relax and I can't seem to handle these darn exams. So, he was unable to do a stretch & sweep or even tell me my progress. I feel like crap!. If I can't handle a cervical exam how will I handle labor? What's more, we discussed getting induced next weekend incase I do not go into labor this weekend. My question to you ladies is, has this happened to you and were you progressing and still managed to have baby on time?  I had false labor twice now (very intense) but nothing more than that.
