Natural Birth Control

Has anyone here used Natural Family Planning to avoid pregnancy and has it been successful? I'm a virgin and don't want to use the hormonal methods when I start having sex...I'm open to using condoms but curiously want to know if things like cycle beads standard days methods, temperature and Cervical Mucous charting work effectively?
