Consistent BFN - in the family?

My mom told me she never got positives with home pregnancy tests with any of her four pregnancies (1 that was ectopic). She had to demand a blood test. Luckily she did, because the ectopic pregnancy could have killed her (and doctors didn't believe she was pregnant because the urine tests were negative). Is this something that can run in the family? Anyone have experience with this?

I don't know if it can run in the family but I never tested positive with an at home test with my pregnancy. I went based on my feelings and when we had unprotected sex.

I had this happen to me. I was pregnant and kept getting negative urine test. Then I had to demand a blood test which was inconclusive because I was having a miscarriage so the blood test didn't necessarily pick it up. I finally got a positive urine test as I was miscarrying. 😢
