Why don't you just get a gift for your son? I think that's a little much to ask everyone for an extra gift.

I think you should just buy him a gift yourself. Immediate family or not, I think it's a bit much to ask them to get him a gift. Not to sound bad but the baby shower isn't a celebration for him, it's a celebration for you and your unborn child. Explain to him what a baby shower is & explain the same way his sibling won't get presents on his birthday, he won't get presents at their baby shower.

We had our 4yr old niece at our baby shower up until now she was the only child in either family. We let her open all the gifts. She went up to each person after she openned their gift and thanked them. It was so cute and she felt included.

I personally don't think it's appropriate for him to get gifts period. There are other ways to include him. Get him a "Big Brother" shirt to wear at the shower. Let him help hand you/open gifts but seriously are you going to ask people for joint gifts at all their birthday parties, graduations, etc. I don't believe in the "everyone gets a trophy" mindset but that is just me.

Some of the multiple shower comments, that's I don't understand. I have two kids 16, 6, and I'm pregnant with my third. My friends have thrown a shower for each. I won't be expecting anything for either of the two boys at the shower though.

I wouldn't. I also don't agree with people who bring presents for the other sibling at birthdays. At 2 he doesn't know the presents are for the baby, get him a new toy from yourself and leave it at that.

I should have worded it differently I didn't mean everyone I was meaning family members I just don't want him to feel left out my husbands side of the family is going crazy buying everything for there first great/grandchild and my son is the one left out because he is from a previous relationship

My son is 2.5 years old and I bought him a little gift so did my mom and my sister. It was nice so he didn't feel left out. After seeing his gifts he was more then happy to help with baby brothers gifts. :)
