Has anyone tried ovulation test as a hpt?

So my SIL told me about this she did it with both her kids as she wanted to know ASAP my oh and I have been ttc since 1/06/15 I've just tried it  and would love to talk to someone that knows a bit about it and can help me sadly I don't want to talk to my SIL about it as we don't want family and friends known
