What to do!?

Question

If my water breaks. What do i do? I heard people's water breaks and they don't always go into labor. Do i go into the hospital or wait to feel contractions? It didn't break im just a FTM and not sure of what to do if it happens. I keep having pelvic pressure.

You never know how fast you can progress once your water breaks. Go in! It's a definite sign of active labor and they won't send you home.

Depends on when your water breaks. Mine broke at 35 weeks so i had to go in right away, i ended up having to be induced and baby was born 16 hours later. I plan on taking my time at home before going in next time (hopefully next baby doesnt come so early 😉)

I've always been told you go right to the hospital. If you are GBS positive then you need to be put on antibiotics as soon as your water breaks. Generally if you labour doesn't naturally start within 24 hours of your water breaking you will need medical intervention as the baby is no longer protected in there, so if you wait a long time risks and the chance of infection go up.
That said, usually your doctor will tell you what to do, and majority of the time your water won't break until labour has already started. If you are one of the lucky ones who does have their water break before labour starts, there's a really really good chance that labour will start on its own within the next few hours after water breaks.
Regardless, you always want to call your doctor/midwife or go right to labour and delivery so they can make sure your water did break and make sure you don't require antibiotics.

Depends on when it breaks. If its brown you should go to hospital. To term and you're healthy, strep test negative, you can wait at home for contractions to start and get closer together. When to leave for the hospital depends on how far away it is
