Just introduced my cat with our new puppy

The cat tried to eat her. Shes 8 weeks and so so tiny. The cats demeanour became overly confident and kept forcefully pushing her head with his. They got a bit closer, the cat started licking her head aggressively and her head was being pushed around, then his teeth came out and the pup started crying and shaking and i acted very fast and hit him on the head to shock him away and he run. He then returned a minute later and sat beside me staring up at the blanket in my arms. I figured the pup might need the toilet so i sat down with her on the floor and the cat kept his distance but was staring, eyes huge and ears pinned back like he does when he sees birds! I spoke to him and snapped my fingers to get his attention, sternly told him i was watching him (pointing my finger). I look down at the pup and look back at the cat and his whole back was up in the air, shaking and ready to pounce on her!! I angrily said "EXCUSSSSSE MEEEE?" And he snapped out of it and casually walked away. He watches her like a hawk from the other end of the sofa just ready to pounce at her. He clearly sees her as prey!!
