TDAP Vaccine?!!

Question

I haven't had any vaccination since I was 12 and they recommend getting this vaccine. I've read so many articles negative and positive.

There's also information about it not being effective.

What experience have you mothers had with this? Have you had the TDAP? Are you getting it?

I'm so mixed about it !

If you don't want your baby getting whooping cough, I would suggest getting it.

It's very important. Google whooping cough in newborns if you questions it....babies can die from it. I got the shot no issues.

Get it!!! I have heard the worst horror stories for those that passed up. Me and my boyfriend got it in the same day. My parents got theirs already! Anybody that is going to have ALOT of close contact once the baby is born needs to get it!

I was against the vaccine at first as well. I live about 4 blocks from a middle/high school that my sister happens to attend. A student from one of her classes had whopping cough so they sent out possible outbreak letters. Thank god my mom makes sure my siblings are up to date on thier vaccines because she could have easily carried it home to my younger siblings or worse me. I decided to get it immediately. My mom and my fiancé got it as well. And as for the autism argument, supposedly it's the mercury in the multiple dose vaccines. You can ask for single dose vaccines and they don't have mercury in them (you may just have to pay for the vaccination).

I grew up in a military family. My vaccine record is like two pages long and I am perfectly fine! I've had this shot before and I just got it today at my appointment. We can all suggest you get it or not get it. This and that but it's totally your decision. Just because someone is/isn't doing something means you need/don't need to.

You can always wait and get it after baby is born. Most hospitals offer it to new moms prior to discharge

I just got mine yesterday! Tell me the negatives I'm nervous now, they basically told me it was important because the baby can't be vaccinated until 6 months with it and whooping cough is serious so they are giving it to me to give it to the baby through the placenta

I'm getting it as is my husband and anyone that will be staying at our house. The rewards outweigh the risks in my opinion.
