TMI...is this a good latch?

breastfeeding is killing me, my nipples are really taking a beating. Does this look like a good latch or is this the problem?

I had a nurse help me with breastfeeding, as my son wouldn't latch on the right side initially. She showed me a trick to get him to latch properly. You can gently push down on his chin to open his mouth more and when he opens his mouth and latches, his bottom lip should be turned down. Good luck momma ❤️

They told me the lips should look like duck lips so the bottom lip should be out and well as the top on the whole or mostly the areola! Looks like the bottoms lip is tucked in rather than out... Maybe try a nipple shield? I had to get one as soon as my milk came in cuz my breast got huge and he couldn't latch onto my nipple correctly anymore due to them being on the smaller side but the nipple shield works wonders! He latches instantly and has no problem and it eases the pain some 😊 good luck momma! Adorable little one btw! 😍👶🏼🍼

Yeah it's the latch. Ouch I remember that....luckily my hospital had a breastfeeding clinic & they helped me fix it. Look into a lactation consultant, kinda hard to explain how to latch correctly

Yeah bottom lip should definitely be out more. If you have trouble correcting it, for sure call a lactation consultant. They will come to your house. And definitely get nipple cream :)

You should see a double chin on baby if there's a good latch. Looks like baby is only sucking on your nipple which is why it hurts. See a lactation consultant if you can.
