Hospital stay for the flu

Britt 🌲
I called in a 100.7 fever and other flu-like symptoms several nights ago. They examined me in Labor & Delivery and by then, it was at 102. The medical staff decided to keep me at the hospital for a day and a half, to treat the symptoms aggressively. Lots of IV fluids, chest x-Ray to rule out pneumonia, monitored my oxygen levels, heart rate and baby's heart rate. So relieved to say that baby's heart rate looked great the whole time! The staff were all very kind and supportive. I was able to go home when my numbers looked stable. Turns out it was H1N1, or "swine flu." Can you believe it?! On the upside, I got to give my hospital bag a trial run, and now I know a lot of the staff at L&D. So the place will be more familiar when I come back for labor. ☺️ Still recovering after almost a week of symptoms. Just goes to show that we need to take any fevers seriously!
