I think I had poor egg quality we got 15 mature eggs but only 8 of those fertilized naturally and only 3 made it to blast. The grades were 3BB, 3BB- and 3BC. But that little 3BB took and now I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant. So even with poor egg quality you can make something beautiful

Yes I am taking that now, takes 3 months to work though

CoQ10 is supposed to help with egg quality the only thing I took was maca root because I had a cyst on one of my ovaries

Yeah my story isn't as good as yours. 12 retrieved only 7 mature, 4 fertilized, and only 1 made it to day 5 and it was an early blast at that. Bfn

Wow that's awesome Susie! How long were you taking the CoQ10 for before you got pregnant?

We did 2 rounds of retrevial wirh pgs. First round we had 19 eggs retrieved of which only 5 made it and only 1 was healthy do to poor egg quality. Second round I took extra vitamins, drank a specific green juice every morning (hubby made it every Sunday for the week, 2 bunches celery, 4 bunches or kale, 10 green apples and 4 cucumbers). Not sure if that was the miracle but worth a shot. 2nd round we had 33 eggs, 19 fertilized, 10 made it and of those 10 we had 7 very healthy embryos frozen. We just transfered one today and now we wait! Have faith and don't be afraid to try homeopathic stuff. Any help is better than no help. Good luck and feel free to reach out if you ever need to vent. :-)

Meant there is a possible egg quality issue as I've never been pregnant and my periods always only 3 days, but maybe it's the T shape uterus that made it too far for sperm to travel and my previous septum that prevented implantation. Writing this it's like my uterus is it own contraceptive🙈🙈🙈🙈

I haven't started the process yet. All I know is that on the 29th I go in for some updated blood tests and DH for a sperm analysis, we pay our deposit and collect our meds (injection viles). I started Dhea to help if there is a quality issue,he assumes there is as never pg & light AF

Hi Ladysa, we went through a major debate. Ultimately our trust in our RE and the fact that we did pre-implantation genetic testing on each embryo helped solidify the one embryo decision. My husband and I had extensive conversations on what we felt we could handle (1 or 2 babies) emotionally and financially and 1 was the way to go for us. Are you doing another round of retrevial?

Our first IVF the egg quality wasn't good. Second it was perfect, and I'm 10 weeks pregnant from 3rd IVF FET. Keep hope lady.

No menopur. I am 28, I was 27 at the time of both of my egg retrievals.

Following as well. I've heard supplements like coQ10 can help with that but I don't really know.

Hello everyone, I know this forum is old, but I am wondering if you could all give me a little update on where your second IVFs went after your first with poor egg quality. For some background, I am 27 and just went through my first IVF Stim cycle.... things were going great, until our embryos were day 3. We retrieved 23 eggs, 16 were mature, 12 fertilized, 9 were ongoing on day 3....Those ongoing embryos on day 3 were slow growing and fragmented. I was absolutely devastated. On day 5 only one made it to a blastocyst. We did a fresh transfer yesterday. I am praying this works, but know the odds of success the first time and even if it does I would one day like more children.Today we will find out if any of our other fragmented embryos made it to blastocyst today, my doctor wasn’t optimistic. He explained that it was surprising what happened to our embryos, since we don’t have any risk factors for it. He told me there are three potential reasons: (1) The antagonist protocol, he upped my menopur mid-way (I was on 150 gonel f and 2 vials of menopur to start, 3 vials of menopur mid-way), (2) Simply an unlucky cycle/bad month, or (3) I truly have poor quality eggs.If this cycle fails he will talk to me in more depth about everything... but after all this time and money we’ve spent I want answers either way.

Hi Nicole. I am so very sorry that your cycle failed. I did do a second round which had a similar outcome. My doctor recommended I do a third round, which I have two friends that did and had success. I chose not to and did embryo donation instead. That worked for me and my daughter was born from the first transfer! I then got pregnant naturally when my little one was ten months old ans I currently have two babies 1.5 years apart. Keep fighting and don’t give up!

Wow I have a very similar story for the first cycle. I just found out we don’t have any blasts and I’m devastated. Did you do another round and did it work for you?

I'm pretty sure my egg quality will be a factor. I'm 46 so my eggs are OLD OLD OLD. After five nights of stims I have 4 follicles on the left ovary and two on the right. All are about the same size, so developing concurrently (13-16mm).  This is my first time doing IVF so honestly I'm not really sure what this means. I know right now I'm praying for quality over quantity. We thought we would be able to do two cycles of embryo banking with PGS, but recently cash flow is questionable and we may not be able to afford it. I read somewhere that mini-IVF produces quality over quantity eggs and for women with poor egg quality, this may be the better protocol to be on. Anyone else hear this?

It was quite a while ago now, and a lot has happened since. But I am fairly certain it was short protocol. Initially high dose which wasn’t successful. Then closer to mini or low dose. That worked better. I had low egg supply do it seemed high doses spoiled my eggs without producing any extras. I decided with my specialist to be more minimal with drugs and just work with the eggs I had. Quality over quantity. I don’t know if I’d officially fall under DOR, whatever guesses medical professionals might make because I read a lot, and without prior tests, who’s to say the quantity was ever there to be diminished? You don’t read much about the possibility of a lazy ovary, which may have always only ever put out s few each month instead of dozens. The truth is you only need one good egg, and the right timing.

What protocol did you do and do you have DOR?

Hahaha, I know the feeling but I had all the same issues, poor egg quality and odd positioning of uterus! I got pregnant twice in my early 20's and miscarried both times and now am pregnant with our miracle girl. If you're willing, I did dhea and drank a green juice (green apple, kale, celery and 1 more ingredient, will ask hubs in the morning) every morning and I really believed it helped my egg quality for the 2nd egg retrieval!

Also learned that an over the counter supplement, CO q-10 can help improve quality.
