A kiss can go a long way

My BF does not like to kiss (he was not like this). He kisses mostly when we are having sex. He will pinch his lips, turn his head side to side or do some other dumb things to reject my kisses; it upsets me. Sad thing is he denies doing that...he started doing it 2 or 3 months ago. To me a kiss is one tool of communication in an emotionally intimate relationship and it builds up to sexual intimacy (which rarely happens lately). That makes me feel him a little bit too distant. I tried talking about it, but nothing really happened. I decided to stop initiating kisses and other acts of intimacy so i won't be disappointed. But am affraid it is ruining our relationship. I thought about oral hygiene, but i know he is the one who does not visit the dentist and has plaque on some of his teeth.
