Washing baby clothes

Today I have washed a load of baby clothes using Tesco's own baby powder and softener. I don't have a tumble dryer so just have them on a clothes horse to dry. When I took them out the wash they do smell lovely but also have like a chlorine kind of smell to them. I don't know if it's just because I didn't wash them on a higher temperature or if it's just what I washed them with and as they haven't dried properly yet? Anyone els in uk had the same problem? If it is a problem... Lol thank you
