Kinda cheating?

Please answer❤️ Okay so two months ago I ended things with my boyfriend because he wouldn't stop talking to his ex girlfriend "as friends", our break up only lasted the weekend and then we got back together. 2 days ago he told me while we were on our break he slept with her (btw they didn't even kiss it wasn't at all meaningful) because it was like a rebound and he wasn't sober (no excuse but thought I'd add it) he apologized so many times, balling his eyes out saying how sorry he was (I've seen him cry only one other time). He said he loves me more than anything and without me he has no purpose, I dont know what to do. Do I give him another chance, take a break or be done with him? I love him, so I've been having a very hard time with this. And is this cheating? I kinda think it is, either way it's not right.
