When should I go on leave???

Question

I originally told my boss I wasn't going to leave until May 24th, but my dr changed my due date to May 27th. I really don't fee like I can keep doing this. I'm a CNA and I feel like crap all the time. What should I do? Stick it out or leave my job?

I'm a nurse- tried to schedule myself to work until my 39th week. My doctor said she usually tells her patients to stop working 36-37 weeks (esp since I don't work at the hospital I wish to deliver in, and it's further away from home). She said I would be feeling exhausted by 36 weeks- and she was right. My last day to work was yesterday, and my body was def ready to rest!

I'd take some time off to relax before the baby comes- everyone gave me that same advice. Catch up on sleep, prep for your baby, relax and enjoy your big belly. My friends all miss their baby belly! Best wishes and good luck!

I too thought I could work until the last minute but I ended up leaving a week earlier. My baby is late and I'm hoping he makes an appearance today. I really think it helps to take a week before to take care of whatever last minute needs you have. Not only that, but you can get some much needed rest ! Good luck!

I'm 37 weeks, due on 27th may but working until the 25th.
I'm a PA so my job is mainly desk based and I feel ok at the moment. I would say don't push yourself go as far as you can a no more ! I'm doing this as I prefer to keep busy rather than be at home and sonubcanbhave as much time off after the baby is born but if one day I feel I really can't go on I will stop.

I work in the rehab department of a nursing home and know CNAs work their butts off. It's definitely not easy work. If your not feeling like your able to perform your job then you should definitely go out. You don't want to risk you and your baby's  safety or your patients safety either.

You can leave at 36 weeks. I toughed it out as long as I could, and now I'm wishing I went out sooner. I'll be out at 38 weeks, my due date is May 23. With the lack of sleep and the irritability, it's tough at 37 weeks.

I started my leave after 38 wks. I'm a nurse and I know how exhausting work can be. As a CNA you are doing a lot of physical work, it's rough, just do what you feel you can do. But if it is too hard then take leave.

I started my leave at 37 weeks. It's agitating to be sitting at home waiting for him, but I could not imagine working with the way I feel anymore.

Definitely give yourself some time. I have such peace of mind having had this time for myself.
