When should I tell my employer i'm pregnant?

Hey everyone!!!! I'm curious as to when I should tell my employer that i'm expecting. I'm only 5 weeks and my first doctors visit is scheduled for this upcoming Thursday. I'm thinking I should tell them soon after my visit because i'm sure i'll have a lot of doctor appointments that will require me to be either late or miss work entirely. I'm also not sure if I should wait until i'm out of my first trimester. Any advice? How long did you wait?

I told my manager around 5weeks or 6 and ended up having a miscarriage. U should wait unless u carry heavy things at ur job!

I told at like 16 weeks. I didn't want to be ine of those poeple that tell as soon as they find out theyre pregnant. There's no need for them to know for a long time though really but my job involves working with chemicals and heavy lifting so i had to.

I told my employer around 8-10 weeks. I work for a design and publishing company and our busiest time is from March-September, I'm due May 21st. I wanted to give him enough time to find a replacement so we could get started on the training as soon as possible. Also, he was in the process of training me to take on more responsibility in the office and I didn't want to waste his time.

I told my boss at 9, almost 10 weeks. I had to leave work for two appointments and I called out sick one day due to terrible nausea. I didn't want her thinking I was slacking, but I also didn't feel comfortable sharing earlier than that. One week later, after I had an official due date, I told my department head. My coworkers still don't know yet!

I'm planning to tell my supervisor at 13 weeks.  I'm a desk monkey and sitting far my symptoms are pretty mild.  As for my doctor visits,  I'm taking advantage of my flexible hours for those.  Since this baby isn't interfering with my job,  I have the luxury of telling them later.  Its pretty easy for me to hide it from my boss since he doesn't even work in my office but I still want to tell him before he figures it out or someone in my office tells him.
