Mucous plug?

Question

So random question but how does the mucous plug work? Does it slowly start coming apart or do we lose it all at once? I've noticed in the last couple of days a lot more mucous cm, and little booger chunks. And of course the more I thought about it the more I realized I have no idea what to watch for. So can anyone give me some insight on all of that?

Some women lose pieces of their plug, while others lose the whole thing at once! ☺️

I didn't lose mine (or notice anyway) with my first. With my second it came out all at once and it was huge and gross and I  freaked out I got all ready to go into labor....but I didn't go into labor for another 3 weeks so lol.

With my first pregnancy I didn't loose it till the day before I went into labor. It was all at once and looked nasty lol the second one I lost it over a few days before I went into labor and this time around I just started loosing small pieces at 30 weeks but I know it can grow back so I'm not too worried!

Both some don't even lose it until labor begins. You can loose it early it will regenerate. But it looks like boogers and sometimes blood tinged
