Is it true that breastmilk has the most nutritional value the first six months of baby's life? My son's pediatrician recommended I breastfeed at least six months, but if I wished to continue to do so. My baby is seven months old and I dont plan on stopping anytime soon, but my lovely (sarcastic voice) mother in law told me my milk no longer had nutrional value for my baby.

It absolutely has nutritional value!! You should definitely continue breastfeeding, especially since it sounds like something you want to continue doing. Your child still recieves nutrients, immunities, and emotional comfort from breastfeeding. I recommend you do some research on it. 😊

Here's my thought. Your child can't have animals milk till a year or older. And breast milk is free. So why pay for something that has no where near the nutrional value that breast milk does? Plus the longer you breast feed the better brain function your child may have.

The American pediatric association recommends breastfeeding until the child is at least 2. Some cultures breastfeed until a child is 7!  Maybe pull some links to share with your mother in law on the nutrition a baby receives and why it's important to keep giving it.

I breastfed my daughter for a year and 3 months. She then just didn't want it anymore. I would have loved to breast feed her until she was two. I'm going to try to go two years with this baby. Breast milk is the best milk no matter how long you feed for. It's moms responsibility to eat healthy and nutritious so that the child is really getting all the good benefits of breast feeding.

A lactation nurse told me it's even good for older kids. I just had my daughter a week ago. And was told if my son was to get sick, give him a cup of my breast milk and it will help him fight whatever he is getting. And that's if I could get him to drink it. It's all up to you how long you wanna feed them. I know some parents that keep pumping after a year and that's what they give them instead of milk.
