Icky! TMI but Please Help!

So I've been VERY constipated. But I'm afraid to take laxatives or stool softeners because when I do go it's all diarrhea. Accept for today when I went(hadn't gone in 5 days) there was a lot of mucus and undigested food. Has anyone delt with this before? Should I call a doctor now?
