Heavier Flow Than Usual?

Question

Okay! So I'm on birth control (nexplanon) and it's made my periods very light with some spotting in between periods. Like I've never had to really use an actual pad, I've been okay with liners only when I'm on what would be my period. I started my period this Sunday and it's pretty early. My flow has been really heavy, and heavy meaning having to change my pad every 3 hours because of the flow being a little too much. It's been like this since it started and I'm just really confused and a little concerned. 
It could be nothing, but I just wanted to get some opinions?

I had nexplannon and it was pure torture. I had periods everyday after insertion. With like 1 day of rest. So i had a period not too heavy but enough where i needed something thicker than a liner but not a full pad. When the real periods came they were really heavy too. Full 7 days, change of pads every 2-3 hours. It could be your bodys way of adjusting to the new hormone. Or its way of rejecting the implant. It was a bloody mess when my periods never stopped.  I went back to planned parenthood (where I got the implant) they prescribed BC pills for a month which stopped my periods. But nothing changed after I came off the pills. (This went on for 6 months total) I just decided to take out the implant all together. There was no point in having that kind of BC when I bled so much I couldnt even have sex.
