Did you eat before being induced?

I am being induced today at 7pm and I was told not to eat anything after Noon. It's now 5:25 and I am starving!!! I need something because I'm shaking and I feel weak...I am also waiting for my doctor to call me back...but my goodness waiting is agonizing! Any tips?

Eat some saltines.

They dont want you to eat anything just incase you have to get a c-section and they don't want you to choke on your vomit or have anything to vomit. Just don't eat anything heavy.

How are you being induced? If it is the catheter definitely eat something, if it is pitocin I still would eat - you just risk vomiting during labour but many do that anyway. They may be saying that in case you need a c-section but that is many hours away, and they can manage that if you have eaten anyway.

They don't want you to eat in case of complications so if you get put out you don't aspirate and die. It's probably pretty important u don't eat. Maybe a popsicle or something but as far as actual food it's a no no

I was told I can eat before I come in just not meat or dairy items. I just had a salad.

listen to the doctors hun....I wouldn't eat if they said not to, drink ginger ale or call your doctor but just don't eat

Just eat something light- I was just induced recently and they actually let me eat until the very end of my labor! I was so relieved and thankful haha! It can be a LONG process.

I went in at 6 pm. They just said nothing heavy after 1pm that day. I would have something light. I didn't get to have anything till 11 pm the next night after delivery. And everything was closed and all they had was crackers, applesauce, and jello. I was starving.
