Any pregnant working cosmetologists?

Question

So, my fiance isn't seem to be trying enough to get a job. hes being a hige couch potato and ive been having to pay for everything out of MY savings. I've gotten to the point in my pregnancy to where I don't have morning sickness anymore or any other major symptoms. I really just get fatiguey. So I know I am well enough to get a job.

I am going to be a licensed cosmetologist by this month on the 21st. Then, I will be searching for a job where I can do facials/makeup.

This won't be a high stress job for me.

I was just wondering cause I dont know, Do you think I should tell them about my pregnancy like asap when I talk to them about getting a job with them? I will be early in my second trimester once I start job hunting.

Any pregnant working cosmetologists wanna talk to me about this and how it works, working while pregnant. Like when I will have to leave, if they will even hire me, ect. Everything I need to know. I'm too shy to ask ladies around here about it who work at salons.

I am a licensed Cosmo! Many women I know work up until like a week before they are due just because it's hard to reach the hair when you have a belly in the way lol I would tell them that you are pregnant but make it known that you will balance the two as best as you can. They are usually salons filled with women, they know how it goes. My husband transferred out to Hawaii for a year so I am taking a year leave from my salon. Right when we moved here I got pregnant. I would have had to quit my job at the salon if I got pregnant while working-I'm sick all.the.time. But since you are past that phase I think you'll be just fine! Make sure it's a salon that's more like a family. I came from the greatest salon and we were truly family. The salon owners were at the salon more than any other staff member. They were so respectful if we had anything going on in life. If a salon won't work with you on the baby thing then they aren't the right salon for you! Good luck in your hunt! I'm a beauty therapist in the uk I guess kinda the same thing I work in a busy salon it's not really a low stress job people think it's all nice and relaxing but can be demanding at times I'm just into my second trimester 13 weeks and I've been getting incredibly tired!! I do facials, waxing, massage and nails and everything else in between I told my boss as soon as I found out at about 6 weeks.  The problem is if you're employed by someone and not self employed you will be building your own client base and if you will be leaving for maternity you may not keep those clients I don't know how maternity works in the US but we get up to a year off in UK so as you can imagine in a client based industry that's a long time and your clients who you have built a relationship with tend to drift away, which is a shame but not a lot can be done. I don't think an employer can refuse to hire you on the basis that you're pregnant but I do think it's is something that would need to be discussed as temporary replacements need to be organised when you are on leave things like that hope that helps xx
